Santa Paws

SantPaws

Not all runs have a theme, or techno music blasting and people on the sidelines ready to douse you with colored powder. While those runs do help charities, some are a bit more serious and have only one purpose and that is to save a life. It can be a human life, or it can be a furry friend's life.

The SPCA of Wake County is a non-profit, no kill shelter that takes in thousands of animals every year. Many of the puppy mill busts that occur all over North Carolina, the SPCA of Wake County is there to take in as many dogs as they can. To help cover the costs of food, shelter and medical the SPCA relies on donations

Depending when you read this, the event may have passed. The good thing is you can still donate money, or just prepare to run next year. Its great fun for your fur baby, he or she will get to meet Santa and get a picture. As you can see above, there are different categories so you don't even have to feel pressured. You can compete or do so leisurely and have fun. All of the money goes to a great cause.

Below is a video from the first Santa Paws when the puppies got to meet Santa.

UPDATE:
The third annual Santa Paws took place November 16, 2014 and has since passed. This page will remain open so if you are interested in running next year, all the information is here. Most likely the dates will be different but at least you and your fur baby will have an idea of the different categories and registration price,

Speaking of, the run was a success with more than 580 runners raising a total of $25,138.34 for the SPCA to help homeless animals in our state.

Below are some pictures from the event.
