Musical Monday 11/17

Last week I posted an playlist of the best workout songs from the 1980's. That was fun and kind of interesting because half of them I didn't know and the other half I loved (New Kids on the Block, GNR, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper.) The best thing about doing an 80's playlist was the wide variety of music. So I decided to continue on with the trend and today I am going to post the best workout songs from the 1990's. Comment and tell me if you know any of these songs and which ones are your favorite.

25 of the best workout songs from the 1990s

Musical Monday 11/10

It's musical monday again!! Now there are only so many songs I know personally to post, there are only so many playlists I can find online and then it hit me - playlists from different decades! How cool would that be? We often listen to what is playing on the radio or most popular today but there are some awesome songs from the past that are still worth rocking out to.

It was funny awhile back I was at my cousin's house and I had my iPod hooked up to some speakers and Teena Marie Lover Girl came on and my cousin's husband stopped what he was doing and looked at me "How do you know that song?"

Later we were playing a game and had to name musicians or bands that started with a P and I said 'Poison' and he was shocked again. I'd like to think just because I born at the end of the 80's doesn't mean I don't know good music regardless of what decade it was released in. I won't lie....some of these I haven't heard of before - others, Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi, Journey and MJ, I love and my favorite Guns n' Roses.

So in honor of the 80's...........25 workout songs from 1980-1989:

Cyndi Lauper Girls just wanna have fun 1983
Survivor Eye of the Tiger 1982
The B-52's Love Shack 1989
Michael Jackson Beat It 1982
Bon Jovi Livin on a Prayer 1986
Michael Jackson Thriller 1982
Journey Don't Stop Believin 1981
Katrina & The Waves Walking on Sunshine 1985
Kool & The Gang Celebration 1980
Eurythmics Sweet Dreams Are Made of These 1983
A Flock of Seagulls I Ran 1982
A-Ha Take Me On 1985
Billy Idol Mony Mony 1981
Depeche Mode Just Can't Get Enough 1981
Dead or Alive You Spin me Round 1984
Falco Rock Me Amadeus 1986
Erasure A Little Respect 1988
The Gap Band You Dropped a Bomb on Me 1982

Musical Monday 11/3

I have shared a few playlists in the past, shared some of my favorite songs to listen to while working out and even most popular songs (voted by people online) to workout to. Today I talked with one of my friends who has been killing it at the gym and lost a total of 50lbs. (round of applause) That is no easy task, mainly because its hard to stay motivated. I decided to ask her what music she listens to in order to keep her moving even when she is tried and ready to quit. Surprisingly it wasn't pop, rap or even rock music but actually wrestling theme songs that kept her pumped.

"Boom" by Jim Johnston - Air Boom's theme song
"Let's Go" by Hollywood Records -Kaitlyn's 1st theme song
"Spin the Bottle" by Ashley Jana- Kaitlyn's 2nd theme song
"Higher" performed by Nicole Tranquillo - Kaitlyn's 3rd theme song"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour - CM Punk's theme song
"Let's Light It Up" by Jim Johnston featuring Kari Kimmel - AJ Lee's theme song"Voices" by Rev Theory - Randy Orton's theme song

So maybe you're not a fan of wrestling like she is but 50lbs doesn't lie, obviously these songs do something. Head on over to spotify or youtube and see for yourself.

Rather than post a playlist today I decided to post a few of my favorite songs I listen to when I workout.  Maybe this will help you find new music and also get an idea of who I am and what I like.

Demi Lovato - Really don't care

Charli XCX - Boom Clap

Rixton - Don't Wake me up (Chris Brown Cover)

Rihanna - We Found Love

Bruno Mars - Locked out of Heaven

Flo Rida - Wild Ones

Escape the Fate - One for the Money

Charli XCX - Break the Rules

Enrique Iglesias - Bailando (spanish version)

Avicci ft. Aloe Blacc - Wake Me Up

Swedish House Mafia - Don't you Worry Child

Bone Thugs n Harmony ft. Wisin y Yandel - Take the Lead

Escape the Fate - This War is Ours

Eminem Ft.Rihanna - Monster

Don Omar - Danza Kudro

Guns n Roses - Welcome To the Jungle

Justin Timberlake - Not a bad thing

So I think that is a decent list. I am in to a ton of different types of music so Lenny Kravitz, One Direction, The Pretty Reckless, Marilyn Manson, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pink and others make an appearance from time to time. Hope you like some of the songs I listed.

I believe the best way to pass time while working out is either by watching TV, read a book or magazine (which I've done and nearly walked off the side of the treadmill) or listen to music. The faster the music the better. It keeps me moving and I stay focused on my elliptical or whatever I may be doing so I don't fall off.
